Final Score:

He's saved Peach, They've Raced Karts, They've had a Party and a Big Fight, and now the Mario Team are relaxing with a game of Golf. And here it is - Mario Golf, a brilliant Golf sim by Nintendo & Camelot.

I was a bit apprihensive about this game- what could it be? A serious Golf sim (like Microsoft Golf for the PC) with Cute Characters, or a useless Golf game which made Mario look bad. But, it is an excellent Golf game which I am glad I bought. It has all the elements of Golf with that always special Mario touch, which makes the game cool.

All the Mario team is along for the ride - Mario(duh), Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Wario, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and even Baby Mario. There are also some 'Human' Characters which are just really to fill up space. Also, if more than one player selects the same Character, you get and alternative, like Firey Mario/Luigi and Red/Yellow Yoshis and stuff.

The Golf game itself is easy to play as soon as you get the hang of the control system, and timing the best possible shot. Just three taps of the A button at the right time will speed your way to victory. There are also lots of other games, like the 'Mini Golf', which is a simple game for beginners using one club only.

The Graphics are like Super Mario 64, although Mario is a bit more blocky, but they are still excellent anyway. The characters are rendered in full 3D, and the course graphics are very smooth and clear. Also, the backgrounds feature images from Super Mario World, like the expanse of Toad Highlands.

Lots of other stuff is also there - like point matches, training matches and Mario will also teach you to play and more. You can also taunt your opponent by pressing the C buttons! I'll leave the rest to find out for yourself, as there's so much stuff to find out. Welcome to Mario Golf!

Bottom Line: The Best golfer on the Nintendo 64, and another game featuring the Mario team. What next? Mario Tennis? Mario Soccer? or Maybe Mario Basketball? You won't be disappointed. Buy.
